BOULDER — A member of a University of Colorado sorority is recovering from serious injuries after Boulder police said the intoxicated 20-year-old fell off the roof of the three-story sorority house early Saturday.

Detectives are investigating where the woman got the alcohol, and Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said a business or resident could face charges if police determine the woman was illegally served.

Officers were called to the Alpha Phi sorority, 1015 15th St., about 12:40 a.m. Saturday after two sorority members reported finding one of their sisters seriously injured in an alley by some stairs, Huntley said. The two women said they went outside because they heard a loud “thud” from inside the house, Huntley said. When they found the injured woman, she was unresponsive, Huntley said.

After further investigation, officers determined the woman probably had climbed out of a window on the third floor and was crossing the roof when she fell about 19 feet, Huntley said.

The woman was rushed to Boulder Community Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries that are not life-threatening, Huntley said.
