Two Denver police officers will be charged for allegedly making a false report to Parker police as part a practical joke in January, Douglas County authorities said Thursday.
Joshua Herrick and Thomas Sanchez are each charged with misdemeanors, accused of asking Parker police to go to the home of a coworker, saying that the person had not shown up at work in three days.
The pair later reportedly confessed to the prank.
According to the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, false reporting is one of the misdemeanors that can disqualify a police officer from certification.
They have been in “non-line positions” since the investigation began, where they’ll remain until the prosecution is complete in Douglas County before Denver police will make a determination on their futures, said police spokesman John White.
