A woman struck by a hit-and-run driver on East Evans Avenue is no longer in critical condition, Swedish Medical Center said Monday.

Lindsey Howland’s condition has been upgraded to serious, said hospital spokeswoman Julie Lonborg. Howland, 24, was hit as she crossed Evans between South University Boulevard and Josephine Street at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police arrested Robert Jesse Gallegos, 22, for investigation of hit and run, drunken driving and vehicular assault.
