Vlasin leads new class:

The Colorado High School Coaches Association will induct its 47th Hall of Fame class March 27 at the Red Lion Hotel in Aurora. It’s led by Ron Vlasin, left, who won a combined nine boys basketball titles while coaching at Merino, Littleton and Arapahoe. Over 30 years, his teams were 546-165. Also in the select group: 29-year football coach Lee Hitchcock, whose Cañon City Tigers won the 2000 title; Buena Vista’s Bob Marken, who has 31 years on the job and serves as athletic director; Akron’s Tom Meyer, whose track and field program won seven state titles; and former Wiggins wrestling head man Jon Penfold, who also won a Silver Star in Vietnam. has additional information.
