The Colorado Community Bank at 20991 E. Smoky Hill Road was robbed about 7:30 a.m. today, according to the FBI.
Capt. Louie Perea of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, said the bank robber broke into the bank before it opened.
When the first employees arrived, they were confronted by an armed gunman wearing a ski mask with ski goggles, who ordered them to the ground.
Perea said the gunman fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Investigators are not disclosing how the suspect got into the bank or whether he got into the bank vault.
FBI spokesman Dave Joly said the suspect is described as being about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build.
Perea said the white, male suspect was wearing a red, black and gray windbreaker and Navy blue sweat pants.
For about an hour, area schools were on lockdown. They included Timberline Elementary School; Peakview Elementary School, Rolling Hills Elementary School, Antelope Ridge Elementary School, Falcon Creek Middle School, Thunder Ridge Middle School, Eaglecrest High School and I Team Outback Alternative High School.
