A pedestrian died this afternoon after being hit by a train on the northeast side of the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins.

The accident happened at about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Old Main Drive and South Mason Street, east of the CSU Oval, according to a media release from the university.

The name of the victim, a man, was not released.

Witnesses told the Fort Collins Coloradan that the man ran in front of the oncoming train.

More details on the fatal accident are expected to be released later today.
