The Air Force Falcons did something Saturday no Falcons men’s lacrosse squad had before — they beat Army. The Black Knights (1-4) were 16-0 against the Falcons until Air Force (1-3) posted an 8-7 overtime victory at the academy in the first meeting between the teams in Colorado.
Sophomore Adam Paranka, a Mountain Vista High School graduate, scored the game-winner, his only goal of the game, with 1:04 remaining in overtime. Army had the ball for the first two minutes of overtime, and a big save by Falcons goalkeeper Brian Wilson set up Paranka’s goal. Air Force got a good shot on Black Knights goalie Tom Palesky, who made the save, but Army could not clear its zone. Paranka was able to get in position and capitalized after a wide shot by Vinny Sandtorv.
