NEW YORK — Da’Sean Butler’s second game-winner in three days gave West Virginia its first Big East championship.
The senior guard, who banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give West Virginia a quarterfinal win, scored in the lane with 4.2 seconds left and the seventh-ranked Mountaineers beat No. 22 Georgetown 60-58 on Saturday night.
Butler, who had 20 points for the Mountaineers (27-6), was selected the Big East Tournament’s MVP.
Chris Wright scored 20 points for the eighth-seeded Hoyas (23-10).
His length-of-the-court drive to tie the game came up short.
The win left West Virginia in the running for a possible No. 1 seed when the 65-team NCAA Tournament field is announced today.
Minn. 69, No. 6 Purdue 42
INDIANAPOLIS — Minnesota held Purdue to the worst first half in the Boilermakers’ record book and rolled in the Big Ten Tournament semi- finals.
Minnesota led 37-11 at halftime. It was the fewest points scored by Purdue in a half since the school started keeping track in 1950.
Only a late layup by Patrick Bade allowed Purdue to avoid the worst defeat ever in a Big Ten Tournament game.
No. 5 Ohio State 88, Illinois 81, 2OT
INDIANAPOLIS — Evan Turner scored 12 of his 31 points after regulation, helping the Buckeyes pull away in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
Turner finished with a triple-double — 31 points, 10 rebounds and 10 turnovers. The conference’s player of the year also had six assists and two steals, enough to give the Buckeyes their sixth straight victory and a trip to today’s title game against Minnesota.
No. 4 Duke 77, Miami 74
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Kyle Singler scored 27 points to help Duke push ahead in the second half of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament semifinals.
Freshman Durand Scott scored 23 points for the 12th- seeded Hurricanes (20-13), who put up plenty of fight but couldn’t follow their upsets of Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
Miami was in the ACC semifinals for the first time in its history.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — DeMarcus Cousins had 19 points and 15 rebounds as Kentucky chases its first Southeastern Conference Tournament title since 2004.

TULSA, Okla. — Kelvin Lewis scored 28 points and Houston claimed its first NCAA Tournament berth in 18 years with a victory in the Conference USA Tournament championship game that snapped the Miners’ 16- game winning streak.

CLEVELAND — Freshman D.J. Cooper scored 23 points and made three big plays in overtime as Ohio capped a stunning run through the Mid- American Conference Tournament by beating the defending champion.
The ninth-seeded Bobcats (21-14) became the lowest- seeded team to win the MAC Tournament title. They did it by knocking off top-seeded Kent State, fourth-seeded Miami (Ohio) and finally the third-seeded Zips (24-10).

LOS ANGELES — Venoy Overton made two free throws with 2.1 seconds left for the third- seeded Huskies (24-9), who emphatically salvaged their inconsistent regular season with seven straight wins and the Pac-10 Tournament title.

KATY, Texas — The Southland Conference Tournament title gave top-seeded Sam Houston State (25-7) its second NCAA Tournament bid.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Kevin Thompson had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Morgan State claimed its second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth by winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament title.

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Using solid shooting and a stingy defense, the Catamounts (25-9) took an early lead and never trailed to claim the America East Tournament championship and an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The top-seeded Gauchos (20-9) used their ninth victory in 10 games to win the Big West Conference Tournament and qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002.

RENO, Nev. — New Mexico State snapped top-seeded Utah State’s 17-game winning streak by winning the Western Athletic Conference tournament title game.

BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Golden Lions earned their first NCAA Tournament berth by winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship.
