A man was killed when a pickup truck hit him as he tried to cross Interstate 25 in Thornton on Saturday.
The 54 year-old Fort Collins man who was driving the GMC pickup remained at the scene and is not suspected of driving under the influence, said Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes.
Police have not released the identities of either man.
Someone reported the accident at 9:46 p.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses said they saw the man walking across the highway. “There is an overpass above it” that he could have used, Barnes said.
Police don’t know yet if the victim was intoxicated.
Police closed the highway in the area of the accident near 84th Avenue for 3½ hours.
