DENVER—A woman who authorities say faked her credentials as a licensed respiratory therapist has been sentenced to two years of probation, 96 hours of public service and restitution of $1,700.
Laura McCombs worked briefly at Littleton Adventist Hospital in 2008 before hospital officials determined she had forged her license and registration. Her application for a license in 2009 was denied.
McCombs pleaded guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of attempting to influence a public servant and a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized practice as a respiratory therapist.
Rosemary McCool of the Department of Regulatory Agencies says the case is becoming a trend, possibly as a result of the economic downturn and higher unemployment rates.
