Olympian Tyler Jewell of Steamboat Springs finished the 2010 season one step away from the podium, placing fourth in Sunday’s parallel giant slalom race won by Olympic champion Jasey Jay Anderson of Canada during the World Cup finals in Spain.
The finish marked Jewell’s best result of the season. His previous podium performance came during the 2008 season in a PGS World Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Clark wins halfpipe.
Two- time Olympic snowboarding medalist Kelly Clark joined Japan’s Kazuhiro Kokubo at the top of the podium in Saturday’s U.S. Open halfpipe championship in Stratton, Vt. Vermont-local Clark became the first woman in U.S. Open history to win four halfpipe titles. Kokubo’s win was his first at the nation’s longest- running halfpipe contest.

Eliza Outtrim of Steamboat Springs closed out the World Cup season in a big way last week as she won the women’s moguls competition in Sierra Nevada, Spain, for the first podium performance of her career.
The contest also served as a milestone for 17-year-old Heidi Kloser of Vail, who finished 13th and was named the FIS World Cup rookie of the year shortly after being promoted to World Cup competition.
