The family physician accused of stabbing a nurse during an attempted escape from detox could be permanently stripped of his medical license.

A formal complaint filed by Colorado Attorney General John Suthers with the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners requests disciplinary action, including potential license revocation, against Dr. Grady Michael Holder.

Holder’s medical license has been suspended as he awaits the filing of formal charges expected to include attempted first-degree murder, menacing and second-degree assault.

The AG’s complaint alleges Holder has a history of repeated alcohol abuse that constitutes unprofessional conduct.

Witnesses told Lone Tree Police that Holder was in the Sky Ridge Medical Center ICU for detox on Feb. 13 when he stabbed a nurse and attempted to escape.
