A group of construction-industry representatives — from 12 associations — Monday voiced their opposition to seven bills in the state legislature they called “anti-business.”

In a letter to legislators, they urged the defeat of the bills, six of which also are opposed by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.

“These bills are simply bad public policy,” the group said in its letter.

The bills opposed by the chamber and the construction industry are HB 1107, HB 1017, SB 185, HB 1012, HB 1107 and HB 1269. They deal with agriculture property-tax exemptions, rent controls, tenants’ rights, workers’ compensation, state income tax and employment-discrimination lawsuits.

The construction-industry group also opposes HB 1356, the Workers’ Compensation Policyholder Protection Act.

The group includes executives with the Colorado Contractors Association, Colorado Association of Home Builders, Hispanic Contractors of Colorado and Colorado Association of Mechanical and Plumbing Contractors.
