CORTEZ, Colo.—Two homeless men have been found dead in a Cortez park and authorities suspect exposure was the cause.
Montezuma County Coroner Charlie Rosenbaugh identified the men 52-year-old Michael Yazzie and 44-year-old Dwayne Dale. Both were from Shiprock, N.M.
Rosenbaugh says they died Sunday morning after spending the night in City Park. He says alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor and a toxicology report is being conducted.
Both men have been regularly spending nights at a nearby shelter but officials say for some reason they didn’t last weekend.
