MEXICO CITY — One of Mexico’s most famous reputed drug lords told a magazine that he lives in fear of being caught.
Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, thought to control the Sinaloa drug cartel with Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, told Proceso magazine that he has fled the Mexican Army at least four times. Proceso’s founder said in an article Sunday that he met with Zambada after the alleged kingpin offered a rare interview in which he admitted, “I’m terrified of being incarcerated.”
