COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A severed cable has disrupted or cut 911 service and some normal telephone service in a wide area of southern Colorado.
Qwest Communications spokeswoman Monica Martinez says towns in a 60- by 40-mile area were affected, including Woodland Park, Florence, Canyon City, Westcliffe and Penrose.
Some service to Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs has also been affected.
Martinez says the cable was cut at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Stratmoor area of Colorado Springs. She had no estimate on when service would be restored.
