Snake Rattle Rattle Snake leads another weekend of killer Denver-based acts with its Saturday headlining set at the Bluebird Theater, with Ian Cooke Band and Glass Hits. Also local and worth checking out this weekend: Carbon Choir at the Gothic Theatre on Saturday with Flashbulb Fires, the Still City and Young Republic; Overcasters at the Larimer Lounge on Saturday with the Buckingham Squares and Le Divorce; and Achille Lauro’s vinyl release at the Hi-Dive with Houses and Vitamins on Saturday.

Owl City is a legitimate danger to those with diabetes, a rush of sugary emo-pop so concentrated that no amount of insulin can shield them. For the rest of Adam Young’s fans, Owl City is the evolution of the melodic songwriting and breathy vocals first synthesized on the Postal Service’s “Give Up” — an album from which Young has been accused of stealing wholesale. Nonetheless, the Minnesota native is still enjoying the fruits of singles like “Fireflies” and touring internationally, including a sold-out show at the Ogden Theatre on Tuesday, with openers Lights and Paper Route.
