It’s officially spring, and that means it’s time to update with accessories. Playful, glitzy, glam-rock and soft florals are in big demand this spring and summer.
Items detailed with ruffles, studs and crystals are big, says Sonya Cosentini, a style expert for TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Ruffles are accenting handbags and the toes of shoes. Studs and grommets, a glam-rock look, may be a little edgy, but the style is decorating feminine pieces such as fancy clutches. Zippers are pulling their weight, too. They’re being utilized as an accent on handbags. Camouflage and abstract art patterns are hot, as is anything blue.
“Denim is a huge inspiration this season,” Cosentini says. “You’ll see it more in dresses and tops, but the denim-blue hue is also on footwear, handbags and even headbands.”
Other trends to look for in accessories include patent-leather neutral-colored shoes, from ballet flats to high heels; ethnic and tribal looks in jewelry and scarves, especially East Asian-inspired; stripes and nautical looks on totes; and chain necklaces, especially layered with mixed metals.
