Niwot High School will remain closed Wednesday after environmental tests showed a continued presence of asbestos near the girls locker room in the school, the St. Vrain Valley School District said tonight.
“The school will remain closed until the school district can ensure the well-being of students and staff,” the district said on its website. “Environmental professionals will continue to work throughout the night and tomorrow to address the problem.”
Students and staff were evacuated Monday, after crews engaged in a $20 million renovation discovered material in the locker-room wall thought to be asbestos.
Initial air-quality tests indicated traces of asbestos in the construction area.
