GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Seven students at Grand Junction’s Central High School have been suspended for fighting in what one parent says was a ‘fight club’ at the school.
School District 51 spokesman Jeff Kirtland says the students were suspended Friday but declined to release details, saying it’s a disciplinary matter.
The mother of one of the suspended students, Heidi Chase, says her son told her about consensual fights April 5 and April 6 in the school gym, and other fights Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in a wrestling room. She says at least three students suffered injuries.
Kirtland says fighting of any kind is not tolerated.
