DENVER—A suburban Denver marijuana grower raided by federal drug authorities has changed his mind and wants to fight the charges against him.

Chris Bartkowicz (BART’-kuh-wits) was scheduled to plead guilty Friday. Instead, Bartkowicz says he won’t plead guilty and plans to go to trial. The next step is a federal indictment.

Bartkowicz was charged after appearing on KUSA-TV talking about his homegrown business in Highlands Ranch. The Bartkowicz case has alarmed marijuana growers across Colorado.

The Drug Enforcement Administration insists pot growers aren’t being targeted unless they’re suspected of breaking state rules or are involved in other crimes.
