CASTLE ROCK — Colorado’s governor is getting back on his bike after a March accident in which he broke six ribs.

Gov. Bill Ritter was planning to take part in a 50-mile charity bike ride today in Castle Rock. About 1,000 cyclists are expected.

The ride is the governor’s first bicycle event since an early morning spill March 2. That accident left Ritter in the hospital for five days.

Ritter is a cycling enthusiast who has tried to promote bike racing in Colorado. Last year, Ritter rode in the 52-mile Elephant Rock Ride south of Denver.
