GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Glenwood Canyon Resort near Glenwood Springs says there will be a new way to get across the Colorado River by Memorial Day.

It is adding a zipline that would take riders who are harnessed to a pair of cables on a 350-foot ride from one bank of the river to the other, about 30 feet above the water.

Resort co-owner Jeff Hale says the resort plans to begin marketing the zipline, climbing walls, a ropes course and a trapeze jump to corporate clients, Boy Scout troops and other organizations this summer.

The resort also plans to open a restaurant with a deck overlooking the river in the spring of 2011, with employee housing in the basement and a couple of apartments on top.
