Natalie Merchant and the Horse Flies will join Boulder public radio show “eTown” in celebrating its 19th anniversay on Sunday with a sold-out show and live taping at the Boulder Theater. Hosted by founders Nick and Helen Forster, “eTown” features a reliably folksy, conscious blend of music and casual conversation.
Phantogram is opening for New York indie rockers the Antlers at Boulder’s Fox Theatre on Monday, but the duo deserves to headline. Equal parts dark trip-hop and gorgeous synth-pop, Phantogram’s dreamy tunes alternate girl- guy vocals like Portishead double-dating with My Bloody Valentine. (Also headlining the Larimer Lounge on May 13.) $12.50-$15.
Lupe Fiasco’s poetic, streetwise flows have yet to fully seep into the mainstream, but the Chicago MC’s talent certainly isn’t evaporating. As prolific as he is endearingly cocky, Fiasco will bring his “Steppin Laser Tour,” with openers B.o.B. and Dosage, to the Ogden Theatre on Thursday. $30-$35.
