CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—Afternoon storms prompted tornado warnings in the Denver metro area and brought heavy hail to some parts of the metro area.

The National Weather Service says two tornadoes touched down, one near Deer Trail and in Elbert County. There were no immediate reports of damage.

A tornado warning issued Thursday by the weather service covered parts of south Denver, Parker, Castle Rock, Centennial and Aurora. Warnings were also issued for much of the eastern plains.

Officials issued the warning based on radar that indicated storms were capable of producing tornados but there no immediate confirmations of funnel clouds in the metro area.

Hail fell on parts of the warning area, including pea-size hail reported in Parker, south of Denver. Thick hail blanketed the ground and roads east of Denver.
