DENVER—A software glitch at a wireless switching center in Aurora east of Denver interrupted cell phone and text service for about 11 hours in most of Colorado and Wyoming.
Verizon Wireless spokesman Bob Kelley says the problem began at about 2 a.m. Thursday, with service restored at about 1 p.m. Kelley says it appears a software defect, not a virus, caused the outage.
The switch in Aurora handles service for most Wyoming and Colorado, with the exception of the Front Range cities of Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins, which were not affected.
Affected cities in Colorado included Alamosa, Vail, Aspen, Durango and Grand Junction, while affected cities in Wyoming included Laramie, Casper and Cheyenne.
