The Broncos believe Tim Tebow can throw, believe he can run, believe he can lead and they believe he can win.
That’s why they made Tebow the 25th pick of the NFL draft Thursday night.
But even Tebow can’t control the weather and the quarterback’s arrival to the team’s Dove Valley complex came a little later than expected Friday, because of the snow-rain mix in the Denver area.
“I’m exited to be here, excited to be a Denver Bronco,” Tebow said.
Sporting a newly-purchased tie — in Broncos orange — Tebow made his first public appearance as a Broncos passer Friday meeting with team officials, including team owner Pat Bowlen. Tebow also picked his number, saying he’ll wear the No. 15 he wore at Florida.
Brandon Marshall, who was traded to Miami, has worn No. 15.
Tebow cited a quick connection with head coach Josh McDaniels as one of the reasons for his optimism of what can happen in the Broncos offense moving forward.
“I’m just blessed to be able to play for him,” Tebow said. “I think he is one of the best coaches in the NFL. I think I’m drawn to him too because he’s so passionate… We were both talking about how we can’t sleep because we’re so excited.”
Tebow is just the third quarterback ever drafted by the Broncos. The team selected Jay Cutler with the 11th pick of the 2006 draft and took Tommy Maddox with the 25th pick of the 1992 draft.
Tebow will return to Florida before coming back to Denver for the team’s minicamp for new players next weekend.
