ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—The Denver Broncos have selected Oklahoma State cornerback Perrish Cox in the fifth round of the NFL draft.

The second-team All-American defensive back had 36 tackles in 2009 and picked off four passes.

But Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy suspended Cox from playing in the Jan. 1 Cotton Bowl and banned him from attending the Cowboys’ pro day workout on March 10.

This was the first defensive player of the six picks the Broncos have made so far. They have one more selection in the sixth round.
