Denver Police are investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the death of a man run over early this morning as he walked on Interstate 25 with a cell phone to his ear.
Police have yet to identify either the dead man or the driver of the GMC Jimmy that struck him shortly before 2 a.m. The investigation will determine whether the driver is charged, police spokesman John White said.
“The driver did leave the scene but returned. We don’t believe he was attempting to flee,” said police spokesman John White.
The victim was walking south in the middle lane, White said.
