Summit County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a report that a man was seen loading a rifle in the student parking lot at Summit High School this afternoon, authorities say.
The unidentified man was seen in a dark blue Toyota Tacoma with a red air compressor in the back, according to Tracy LeClair, sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The pickup was videotaped by a school camera at 2:03 p.m., LeClair said.
Two Summit High students reported seeing a man loading a magazine for a rifle, she said. At 2:10 p.m., a girl, who may have been a student, came out of the school and got into the pickup and the man drove away, she said.
One of the students who saw the man loading the rifle reported the incident to his parents when he got home 20 minutes later. The parent called the sheriff’s office, LeClair said.
Anyone who may know the identity of the man in the truck is asked to call Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 970-453-2232.
