GREELEY, Colo.—A judge has sentenced a Weld County man to four years in prison for a December crash that killed his friend.
Authorities say 37-year-old Bobby Lucero was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his Jeep Cherokee. His friend London Burch was partially ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say Lucero had a blood alcohol level of .177, more than twice the legal limit.
Lucero and Burch had been close friends for nine years.
Weld County District Court Judge Thomas Quammen sentenced Lucero Thursday and said he should have learned from his previous 1994 drinking and driving offense.
