CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—A judge is considering whether to grant a Colorado family a permanent restraining order against a priest they say was “grooming” their teenage son for sexual assault by giving him gifts.
The family presented evidence at a hearing Friday and a Douglas County judge will issue a ruling at another date. The priest, Paul Montez, was removed from the St. Thomas More parish in Centennial last month after the archdiocese “received concerns” about his interactions with others and his teachings.
Timothy and Teresa Boh are asking for the protective order. They say Montez bought their son a computer and took him out to eat more than 220 times. Their son says Montez never assaulted him.
Montez’s attorneys say the priest was offering the teenager guidance during family’s financial hardships.
