Former University of Colorado football player Ty Gregorak, 31, was arrested earlier this week after police accused him of stealing a gun and wallet from a bouncer at a strip club in Boulder.
Gregorak, who currently is linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at UNLV, was thrown out of the Nitro Club on the Pearl Street Mall last weekend after having too much to drink, according to police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley. Gregorak then entered the bouncer’s car, which was parked nearby, and took the man’s wallet and a handgun, Huntley said.
Police said the bouncer was awakened at his home Saturday by a man he recognized from the previous night. The man apologized and said he wanted to return his belongings. The bouncer wrote down the license plate of the man’s rental car, and police traced it to Gregorak.
Gregorak, who played linebacker for the Buffs in the late 1990s, turned himself in to Boulder police Tuesday and was booked. He is free on a $2,500 bond.
Gregorak faces charges of first-degree trespassing and prohibited weapons possession.
