DENVER—A federal immigration agent in Denver fighting to get his job back after a campaign dustup has suffered a setback.
A judge with the federal Merit Systems Protection Board has ruled that the firing of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Cory Voorhis was justified. Voorhis was fired after information he provided from a restricted criminal database became part of a Republican gubernatorial campaign ad in 2006.
Voorhis argued he wasn’t politically motivated and shouldn’t have been fired. But Judge Jeremiah Cassidy ruled Wednesday that Voorhis wasn’t “forthright” and was trying to share damaging information about a Democratic candidate.
Voorhis’ lawyer says the former agent plans to appeal.
