NEW YORK — Jimmy Fallon’s main goal for hosting this year’s Emmy Awards is to keep it classy.

The late-night talk-show host was named this week as the host of the Aug. 29 show honoring the best of prime-time television.

“I just want to make it a classy, fun event,” Fallon said. “I remember watching the Emmys every year at home. My mom would dress up in a gown and give acceptance speeches.”

Fallon wants the telecast to be an event to get excited about. “It should be fun. Have an Emmy party at your house,” he said.

Fallon has a lot going on. He attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last Saturday and was a guest at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit on Monday night in New York. The Associated Press
