Fraser museum reopens

The Cozens Ranch Museum in Fraser has reopened. Thanks to a donation from the Grand County Characters, the museum will hoist a new 38-star United States flag to honor the historical significance of the site as a U.S. Post Office and stage stop for the Fraser Valley. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. 970-725-3939.

Mother’s Day concert

There will be a Mother’s Day concert at 4 p.m. today in the Jeannie Miller Theater at Glenwood Springs High School, 1521 Grand Ave. Tickets are available at the doors; doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors, $6 youths 3-18, and $40 for families. Music students are admitted free. .

Gunnison spring bike series

The Gunnison Growler Spring Series will be Thursday and May 20 at Hartman Rocks Multi- Use Recreation Area in Gunnison. This classic mountain bike race/fun ride series is for all ages and abilities with men’s and women’s divisions in three categories: short course, long course sport and long course expert. There are also races for kids. The races begin at 5:45 p.m. with registration starting on-site at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per race, and little kids race for free. Blues, brews, ‘cue

The Blues, Brews and BBQ festival will be May 29-30 in Beaver Creek. Sample culinary creations from top barbecue chefs from around the nation and enjoy free live blues concerts in the plaza in Beaver Creek Village. .

Chairlift rides

Beaver Creek offers daytime scenic chairlift rides on the Centennial Express Chairlift to Spruce Saddle for scenic lunch and outdoor activities such as disc golf. Kids ages 12 and under ride the chairlift for free. Weekends only, May 29-31; June 5-6; and Sept. 11-12, 18-19, 25-26. Daily operations take place from June 12 to Sept. 6. .

Original Growler bike race

The Original Growler Mountain Biking Race starts at 7 a.m. May 30 at Gunnison’s Hartman Rocks Multi-Use Recreation Area. Registration for both the 64-mile and 32-mile competitions is already sold out. Proceeds benefit Gunnison Trails. .

Taste of Ouray

The Taste of Ouray celebration will be June 9 at Ouray Community Center, 320 Sixth Ave. There will be samplings of local cuisine, music and beverages. 970-325-4746.

Telluride celebrates its past

The Telluride Historical Museum, Sheridan Arts Foundation and Telluride Tourism Board are sponsoring the 2010 Heritage Fest, a free festival June 12-13 which celebrates the region’s history through activities, contests, demonstrations, performances and more. Activities include: a free re- enactment of Butch Cassidy’s first bank robbery; free stagecoach rides; mining demonstrations; traditional Ute entertainment; free rides on the historic Galloping Goose Motor No. 1 (a railcar from the 1930s); a free heritage walk to the Valley Floor; historic walking tours; costumes; live music; and a free SquidShow Theater production, “Inaccurate Re-enactments.” .

Steamboat wine celebration

The Aug. 5-8 Steamboat Wine Festival offers tastings and food pairings. Hundreds of vintners and growers will come together over the long weekend. Educational sessions and seminars include “Chocolate and Wine” and “Winemaker for a Day.”
