Mike Epps and Tom Green could hardly be more different in terms of style and audience, but both comedians have benefited from TV and film work while perpetually remaining on the cusp of big-name success. Epps is a natural, laidback stand-up with a strong following, best known for bit parts in comedies such as “The Hangover.” Green is the former host of MTV’s absurd “The Tom Green Show” and other generally insane Web and TV projects. Epps plays today-Sunday at the Denver Improv ($35, ), while Green stops by Comedy Works South today-Saturday ($30, ).
Nathaniel Rateliff released his big solo debut last week on the esteemed Rounder Records, an intricately written, exquisitely produced platter called “In Memory of Loss.” And though he’s typically tagged as Denver’s next big thing, the prolific indie-folk songwriter and former Born in the Flood front man has his best shot yet with “Memory.” He plays Tuesday at Boulder’s Fox Theatre ($12-$14, ) and Wednesday at the Bluebird (), with The Tallest Man on Earth.
