Getting your player ready...

With the necessary paperwork having been completed Wednesday, new Colorado men’s basketball coach Tad Boyle officially announced the signing of 7-foot-1 Ben Mills, an all-state player from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wis.

Mills averaged 17.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots last season and led Arrowhead to its first state championship. Hartland is a suburb of Milwaukee. Mills originally signed with Boise State in November, but he was released from that letter of intent this spring after Boise State made a coaching change.

“Ben has all the tools and skills of a big man to play in the Big 12,” Boyle said in a news release.

Mills is the third addition to CU’s roster since Boyle arrived as coach April 19. The center joins 6-7 forward Andre Roberson, an all-state forward at Converse (Texas) Wagner High School, and 6-5 guard Carlon Brown, who played three years at the University of Utah.

Buffs hitting the road.

For the first time in more than a decade, coaches representing the entire CU athletic department will embark on a “state tour” next week to interact with fans and supporters of the Buffaloes.

CU athletic director Mike Bohn will be joined at all stops by Boyle, football coach Dan Hawkins, women’s basketball coach Linda Lappe and volleyball coach Liz Kritza. Student-athletes and other CU coaches will make one-day visits. The public can RSVP for an event at .

CSU’s Roth on rise in radio.

Longtime Colorado State radio announcer Brian Roth, 35, was elevated to the lead-voice role for Rams football and men’s basketball broadcasts. He succeeds Jerry Schemmel, who’s now in the Rockies’ radio booth. Joining Roth, a Smoky Hill alum, in the CSU booth will be Kevin McGlue, a former sideline reporter.
