GOLDEN, Colo.—Authorities have identified a man who died after a 1.5-ton steel safe fell on him at a bank west of Denver.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s office says 41-year-old Donald Lindsey was the worker who was crushed Thursday morning. Authorities say Lindsey did not immediately die after the safe he was trying to move slipped from a dolly and fell on him.
Authorities say three or four people were temporarily trapped in a room because the safe was blocking a door. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
The accident happened at a Chase Bank branch in Ken Caryl Avenue near Shaffer Parkway.
