FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The mother of a toddler who was catapulted over a highway soundwall in Pompano Beach during a rollover crash will be charged with child neglect and several traffic violations, the Florida Highway Patrol said Saturday.
Troopers accused Roseline Jean-Baptiste, 28, of North Miami Beach, of not placing her children in car seats and driving without a Florida driver’s license at the time of the Friday morning crash.
The impact propelled Jean-Baptiste’s 1 1/2-year-old son, Jacob Mentor, out of the car and over a wall along Interstate 95. The boy landed in a grassy backyard, relatively uninjured.
Jean-Baptiste remained hospitalized Saturday.
