FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Coroner’s officials say a Colorado State University student who died from a drug and alcohol overdose had a blood alcohol level of .212, more than double the legal limit to drive.
Twenty-year-old John Hunter Hauck is the son of former Boulder District Attorney Alex Hunter, who was the first prosecutor to handle the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey. Hauck was found May 5 after a night of partying.
Coroner’s officials believe Hauck had alcohol, marijuana and prescription pain medication containing the opiate Oxycontin before his death. Toxicology tests are pending.
Larimer County Deputy Coroner Greg Fairman says Hauck’s blood alcohol content typically is not enough to be fatal, but mixing alcohol with an opiate can be deadly.
