DENVER—Lockheed Martin has pledged $1 million to the Denver School of Science and Technology to help expand the school’s curriculum.

The company has also made a five-year commitment of volunteer support from the company’s 4,300 Colorado-based employees, half of whom are engineers and scientists.

Joanne Maguire, vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. in Jefferson County, made the announcement Thursday. The school plans to leverage Lockheed Martin’s donation to pursue a $5 million grant from the Department of Education.

The company has partnered with the Denver school since it opened by supporting student and teacher internships and extracurricular activities.
