The Senior PGA Championship week opens with today’s pro-am at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker. The pro-am begins at 10 a.m. with groups going off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees.
There are 31 pros playing in the pro-am event, and all are winners of majors on either the PGA or Champions tours.
The PGA of America has designated five Denver- based organizations to receive $5,000 grants as a result of the pro-am: Teach For America Colorado, The First Tee of Denver, Colorado Succeeds, The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch, and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver.
The pro-am as well as the practice rounds before and after are open to the public.

Paul Azinger, who is playing in this week’s event, will be signing copies of his book “Cracking the Code” on Wednesday at the golf shop at the Colorado Golf Club. The book chronicles his time as the 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup team captain and the formula he used to beat the European team. The book signing is 2-3 p.m. . . . More than 200 youngsters were at Sunday’s junior golf clinic at CommonGround, which was hosted by the PGA of America.
