COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Cassidy Larson and Caitlin Higgins scored second-half goals Wednesday night, leading Fairview to its first Class 5A girls state soccer championship with a 2-0 victory over Arapahoe.

Larson, who only had 1 goal coming in, shot past Arapahoe keeper Molly McGough in the 60th minute.

Higgins scored her third goal of the year in the 74th minute, striking from the top of box and into the left side of the net.

Fairview (17-2), the No. 2 seed from Boulder, finished the season with 16 straight wins. Its last loss was to Arapahoe in mid-March.

Fifth-seeded Arapahoe (15-3-2), from Centennial, fell just short of its 10th girls state soccer championship.

The game was delayed for 35 minutes due to lightning in the area of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
