50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) has shed 50 pounds in preparation for his new movie role.
Usually the MC looks like an NFL linebacker. But for his starring role in the Mario Van Peebles-directed “Things Fall Apart,” (no relation to Nigerian author Chinua Achebe’s acclaimed novel by the same name), a movie he wrote, 50 Cent dropped 54 pounds to play a college football player battling cancer.
Using a liquid diet and three-hour-a-day treadmill stints, he went from 214 pounds to a mere 160 pounds, reports US Weekly.
As an actor, 50 Cent’s film debut came in 2005 with the semi-autobiographical “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” and in 2008 he acted alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in “Righteous Kill.”
When Bret Michaels took the stage at the “American Idol” finale Wednesday night, it was a surprise for everyone – especially his family and doctor.
“The doctors, I didn’t tell them I was going to do this,” Michaels, 47, told UsMagazine.
“They’re going to find out in a few minutes.”
The death-defying Poison frontman has faced a slew of serious health problems recently, beginning with a brain hemorrhage in April and a “warning stroke” that occurred during his recovery. During recent tests at the hospital, doctors also discovered a hole in his heart.
Nevertheless, Michaels was back on his feet last week in time to claim the “Celebrity Apprentice” championship in New York. And despite doctors’ orders, he braved a second public appearance last night, this time on one of music’s biggest stages.
Despite experiencing “a lot of pain,” Michaels looked happy and vibrant as he appeared on stage alongside “Idol” contestant Casey Jones to sing Poison’s hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”
“I’m running about 75 percent realistically, physically,” he told the mag, “but in my soul and my heart, I feel great.”
Still, Michaels isn’t resigned to bedrest just yet. Provided he recovers fully enough, he’ll be right back on the road.
Lindsay Lohan — under strict orders to abstain from alcohol and wear an alcohol-monitoring (SCRAM) bracelet — has found a new drink of choice, according to RadarOnline.
“Red Bull and Waters and Work – my new bff’s hehe – everyone should try it! It’s more fun – you’ll see 🙂 x,” the one-time hard-partying actress Tweeted yesterday.
Lohan, 23, was forced to make the switch to Taurine after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel laid down the law this past Monday following a series of miscues that resulted in the actress no-showing a court date last week.
Lohan was ordered to appear again in court on July 6.
Less than a year after burying longtime love Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O’Neal is making the rounds with another iconic ’70s poster girl, Cheryl Tiegs, according to the New York Post.
O’Neal, 69, and Tiegs, 62, reconnected after she showed up at Fawcett’s funeral last June, sources said. Fawcett died after a long battle with cancer.
They showed up together at the May 17 birthday party for Beverly Hills socialite Nikki Haskell on Sunset Boulevard where, a source told the Post, “they spent most of the night sitting very close to gether on the terrace, talking.” They were also seen together a week earlier at a West Hollywood party for Raquel Welch’s new memoir, a bash co-hosted co-hosted by Fawcett’s pal Alana Hamilton.
The two have six marriages and seven kids between them.
