DENVER—A proposal seeking $50 million to remove hazardous trees killed by bark beetles in national parks and forests has been blocked.

Sen. Mark Udall had hoped to include the amendment in the Senate’s emergency supplemental appropriations bill. Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado was a co-sponsor. Both are Democrats.

Udall’s office said Friday that the proposal was blocked.
