The Colorado State club baseball team won its second game of the National Club Baseball Association World Series on Sunday in Fort Myers, Fla., defeating Virginia Tech 16-3.
The Rams led 4-3 in the seventh inning when Tommy Johnson hit a three-run homer to break open the game. David Debesche was the winning pitcher, giving up three runs in six innings.
CSU will play Tuesday against the Virginia Tech-Arizona victor, with the winner advancing to the semifinals.
Fairview’s Melillo going to Mesa State.
Michael Melillo, instrumental in helping Fairview to the 2010 Class 5A boys basketball state championship game, has signed with Mesa State. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds.
