Getting your player ready...

The high buoyancy packed into the U.S. Coast Guard-approved Kokatat Ronin Pro personal floatation device (MSRP: $215) goes unnoticed until it’s needed, thanks to a trimmed profile and a unique internal harness securing it comfortably in place.

The Ronin Pro’s offset front entry simplifies fitting while the sticky internal grip panel locks the PFD in place. Better still, the PVC- free foam floatation extends all the way up the spine and wraps around the ribs for cushioned protection in rocky rivers.

The top of the line rescue version integrates a quick-release chest harness for emergency situations and a sleeve for a small tow tether used to gather gear when your paddling partner’s day doesn’t go so well (a nonrescue Ronin is available for $158). Other features include reflective accents for increased visibility, a large duplex front pocket with a lanyard attachment and a durable 500 denier Cordura exterior to withstand abrasions. Available in S/M, L/XL and XXL sizes.
