METAIRIE, La. — Greg Paulus is getting a second look in his second sport.
The former Duke point guard who spent last year as Syracuse’s starting quarterback was invited for a second tryout with the Saints during the Super Bowl champions’ minicamp this weekend.
The Saints haven’t offered Paulus a contract yet, and the undrafted rookie may not be back for training camp if New Orleans signs a veteran free agent to compete for a backup role behind Drew Brees.
Paulus is working behind Brees, Chase Daniel and seventh-round draft choice Sean Canfield.
“We wanted to look at him,” coach Sean Payton said. “He was here for the rookie camp and did a good job. He’s a pretty good decision maker.”
