Tornadic weather is threatening the Eastern Plains tonight.

At 8:29 p.m. a law enforcement office reported a tornado briefly on the ground 20 miles west of Limon, but it quickly lifted and dissipated, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado warning was in effect until 9 p.m. for central Elbert County after a law-enforcement officer reported seeing a funnel cloud seven miles northwest of Simla, the National Weather Service reported.

The storm is moving east at 40 mph.

Another storm capable of producing a tornado was developing near the Elbert community.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected in the metro region before midnight, according to the Weather Service.
